Hello!
My name is Grace and I am a third-year student at the University of Cincinnati obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts. I am a multidisciplinary artist specializing in painting, drawing, and digital media and design.
I believe that art has a way of allowing people to communicate things that they simply cannot put into words. Hence, my pieces mainly center around the feelings I associate with different moments or experiences in my life. Throughout my work, you can see intertwining themes of love, grief, nostalgia and personal growth.
I have a growing interest in the formal elements of art, such as composition, form, texture, and color. These elements create relationships with one another to work together to influence viewers' perceptions of art. Some of my work focuses on these elements and relationships, specifically through digital design and abstraction. I have done a large amount of still lifes for this reason as well, studying how the objects relate to one another through composition and how their rendering can be altered through line and shading.
I prioritize the process of my artwork, specifically because art is an outlet for me from everyday stress and anxiety. Spending time in my studio is something I prioritize for my own mental health as well as ensuring each piece is reaching its highest potential. In the end, I think the beauty of the artwork comes not from the final product, but the journey behind it.
